2013 End Of Financial Year Ball

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a function at Fraser's recently,
Fraser's is known to be one of the best Fine Dining places in Perth with a fantastic view that overlooks
Perth's City and the Swan River.

When we first walked in the staff greeted us with Champagne, Martinis and many Appetizers.
The set up was lovely and there was also live music!!

Field Mushroom Tart, Feta and Rocket, Asparagus and Beetroot

The outer pastry was thin and inside it was like a salad, came together nicely.
There was nothing wrong with it but i would of chosen something warmer for a colder winter night.
But it was a refreshing entree to start off with.

Roast Eye Fillet of Beef, Pumpkin and Hazelnut Puree Broccolini
and Cabernet Jus

Served alternately with

Roast Chicken Breast, Feta and Potato Cake, assorted Mushrooms, Asparagus
and Sweet Corn Puree

The presentation of the beef looked amazing, much better than the chicken. The beef was cooked beautifully, full of flavour and the pumpkin and hazelnut puree just melted in my mouth. The chicken was a bit of a let down. It was a little over cooked and the feta and potato cake just tasted like potatoes nothing special. It was an average dish for a 5 star restaurant.

Saute Green Beans, Kalamata Olives and Grilled Chorizo

A good serving of side dishes was served, 2 on each table.
The Chorizo added a punch to the dish.

Rich Chocolate Tart and Italian Meringue, Sour Cherry Glaze and Cherry Gelato

Served alternately with

Apple and Rhubarb Crumble. Chilled Vanilla Custard
and Pistachio Gelato

The highlight of the night would defiantly be the dessert. The chocolate tart was delicious and the meringue on top just made it even better. Even though the tart was sweet the cherry gelato balanced the sweetness. The apple crumbled was definitely as good, the texture of the crumble was beautiful, came together perfectly with the chilled vanilla custard and pistachio gelato.

Overall i would give it a 6.9/10.
Since it was a 5 star restaurant and the price they charge i had higher expectations.

  1. Thank you so much for the above comments I wanted to check in with you that the Ball you attended was for approximately 250 people. I was only checking on the distinction as the meals served in a Restaurant would alter slightly in comparison to a Function. We are really pleased you enjoyed the meal and it certainly photographed up nicely. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Hi Arny, I do agree with you that the food would alter slightly in a restaurant than a function. I am keen to try out the restaurant, hopefully soon :)
